Water for Community Development in Paso Grande
In the forest region of Santiago del Estero, hundreds of rural families still lack access to safe drinking water. Most rely on surface water sources such as dams, wells, and streams that are unsafe for human consumption. As an alternative, many collect rainwater and depend on tanker truck deliveries. In collaboration with communities from four rural settlements, the EFA Avellaneda Agricultural School, and the La Minga workers’ cooperative, we are implementing 80 rainwater harvesting and storage systems. The initiative also includes training sessions on construction, water management, and cistern maintenance, as well as community assemblies to strengthen collective decision-making processes.
